Anniversaries, reunions, and birthdays are perfect for candid family photographs.
A lot of planning goes into parties for significant life events—birthday celebrations, anniversary parties, family reunions, and even celebration of life memorials.
These are times when family comes together and they’re a great time for photographs.
When doing family event photography on location my goal is to be as unobtrusive as possible. I photograph without using flash; this allows the happenings to unfold naturally and helps guests to relax and be natural—often they have no idea they’ve been photographed.
Unless I’m asked to do posed portraits, my family event photography is always candid. I move through the event taking photographs as things unfold—I don’t interfere with guests or ask them to pose. Think of me as a fly on the wall with a camera to my eye!
I always like to take a little time to create a portrait of the guest of honor.
Celebrations are a great time to capture those you love in photographs that will be treasured forever.
